We started dancing in 2004 after seeing a dance demonstration at the Sunrise Resort 2004 Summer Jazz Festival, which takes place annually in Moodus, CT. The two dancers we remember the most were Joel Silvestro and Jane (Jitterbug) Dumont. From that point on, we were hooked on the idea of learning to dance. In December that same year, we enrolled in Jane's East Coast Swing classes and haven't looked back since. Besides Jane Dumont (our first instructor), the two biggest influences on our dance have been Mario Robau and Angel & Debbie Figueroa. In addition, we are fortunate to have many other dedicated local instructors and convenient places to dance.
Since 2004, we have taken dance lessons with some of the top male and female dance instructors from around the country. While we like to dance numerous dances, our two favorite dances are, West Coast Swing and Hustle. Our third favorite dance is Cha cha and we also have a weird affection for Zydeco. Two years ago ,we discovered the Cajun Zydeco dance community and look forward to camping at Strawberry Park and Ninigret Park for annual dance festivals. These two campgrounds feature some of the best Cajun and Zydeco bands from around the country.
In October of 2006. we visited Spain and had a blast. We danced at every opportunity. We went on a Hustle/Salsa Dance Cruise in the Caribbean in 2007 & 2009 and enjoyed a fabulous Shazam Dance Cruise on the Mexican Riviera in 2008. To strengthen our salsa, we took a Salsa/Latin cruise with Dance Fun in 2010 to the Panama Canal. There is nothing better than cruising, dancing, and visiting warm, sunny locations!
If you see us on the dance floor..please ask us to dance.
